Winter is in full gear with snow falling and temperatures dipping close to or below freezing in most places. And we still have a few months of this lovely weather to go until it starts warming up this Spring! That’s why I thought we could all use a little “Winter Warmup” Cocktail to get us through the cold days ahead! You’re going to love our Boozy Bourbon Hot Chocolate! It’s the perfect way to warm up on a lazy weekend afternoon or share with your love by the fire at night. Check out the recipe and give it a try this weekend!
One of my favorite things to do in the winter is go skiing! There’s something so serene and peaceful about being on a mountain in the snow. And let’s be honest, one of the best parts about skiing is heading to the lodge afterward for a drink! I always love getting boozy hot chocolates or coffees – it’s an ideal way to warm up after a cold day on the slopes!
But as I started to reminisce about my love for all things on a snowy mountain, I realized I didn’t have to wait to be back on one to enjoy an adult hot chocolate this season! I could actually make a fancy one right in my own kitchen! Brilliant!
So today I want to walk you through this delicious and totally easy Winter Warmup Cocktail – The Boozy Bourbon Hot Chocolate! It’s so creamy and smooth, plus you probably have most of the ingredients in your kitchen right now (but you may have to run out and get the special ingredient – I promise it will be worth it)!
Boozy Bourbon Hot Chocolate Recipe
This is such a simple cocktail to throw together on a whim and doesn’t require too much effort – which is what makes if fabulous… and a little dangerous! Lol So gather your ingredients (see the full list below) and if you have glass Irish coffee mugs, those work perfectly, but if not, your favorite mug or tall cocktail glass will do!
The first thing you’ll want to do is melt some chocolate (you can use chocolate chips or a chocolate bar), dip the rim of your glass into it and then gently dip the rim of the glass in sprinkles or shaved chocolate. Pretty, right?
Next, place one scoop of vanilla ice cream in the bottom of your glass. Then mix up your hot chocolate and pour one cup into your glass.
Now it’s time to add the good stuff! If you haven’t had Bourbon Cream before you’re in for a real treat! It tastes great on its own and also mixes well with coffees and hot chocolates! I used Witherspoon’s Bourbon Cream, which is a local distillery here in Texas, but any brand will do. I measured about 1/4 cup and poured that into my glass last.
Finally, gently stir your drink and then top it off with whipped cream and some more sprinkles.
And I couldn’t even believe my luck!! It hardly ever snows in North Texas, but the day I made up this cocktail to photograph, what do you know… snow! I was thrilled to have this creamy, dreamy hot chocolate cocktail to warm me up on a snowy day!
Is your mouth watering yet? It looks so delicious, I can’t wait to make another one and take a sip… Yum! Be sure to Pin this post so you have the recipe to come back to all winter long!
