Summer is one of my favorite times of year to host a party and there’s no better time to welcome friends and family than the 4th of July! Celebrating our country’s independence is always a blast and I love centering my food, decor and drinks around a red, white and blue theme! Today I have a new delicious frozen drink for you – our 4th of July Ice Cream Cocktail! Take a look at the recipe below and whip some up for fireworks on the Fourth!
This 4th of July, as the weather heats up, why not turn the temperature down on your drinks and create some frozen cocktails?! The guests at your Independence Day party are sure to love this adults only milkshake! A creamy combination of vanilla ice cream, chocolate liquor and rum, this red, white and blue infused cocktail will be the hit of your celebration!
This recipe is easy and quick to mix up in your blender, especially if you have all the ingredients set out and ready to go. Grab your favorite pint glasses or try these vintage inspired milkshake glasses and set those out by the blender too.
You’ll also want to get your hands on some Red, White and Blue M&Ms. These are used in the recipe itself and also as a decorative garnish. Plus, pick up some patriotic sprinkles, red and white striped paper straws and, if you can find them, these awesome Stars and Stripes pretzels! Don’t those make the best addition to the top of this cocktail?!
These ice cream cocktails are really easy to make. While the exact recipe is below, essentially, you’ll just add the ingredients to the blender, mix to your desired consistency, pour into a glass, top with whipped cream and sprinkles and enjoy!

- 2 scoops vanilla ice cream
- 1 TBSP Chocolate coffee / cocoa syrup
- 3/4 cup White Chocolate creamer
- 10 - 14 Red, white and blue M&Ms more for garnish
- 1 oz Godiva Chocolate Liquor
- 1 oz White Rum
- whipped cream for garnish
- Patriotic sprinkles for garnish
- Stars & Stripes pretzels for garnish

- Add the vanilla ice cream, white chocolate creamer, chocolate syrup and candies in a blender.
- Mix on high for about one minute.
- Add the liquors and mix for another minute, or until your desired milkshake consistency is achieved.
- Top with whipped cream, M&M’s, sprinkles and a pretzel and serve. Enjoy!
