Mardi Gras, or Fat Tuesday, is the official kickoff to Lent – the season leading up to Easter! The special celebration has many traditional practices and treats, one of which is the King Cake. A New Orleans tradition, this cake typically involves a plastic baby and a prize for the one who finds it in their slice, but today, we’re playing on the flavors of the cake with a Mardi Gras themed King Cake Cocktail! Keep scrolling for all of the tasty details…
It’s so much fun having a signature cocktail for a special celebration and holiday parties should be no exception! That’s why I love the idea of taking a traditional Mardi Gras dessert and turning it into a unique cocktail your guests will enjoy and remember for years to come!
Mardi Gras Cocktail Recipe
This drink only requires a few ingredients (which can be repurposed into other unique cocktails… like a milestone birthday cake cocktail perhaps?) and is quick to assemble. Hooray for that! Here’s what you’ll need to gather:
- Vanilla Vodka
- Cake Flavored Vodka
- Cinnamon Schnapps
- Grape Juice
Grab your cocktail shaker, add the alcohol, grape juice and a little crushed ice and shake (you’ll find the exact recipe below). Then pour the concoction into your favorite cocktail glasses (I really love the unique shape of these glasses) and top with a bit of Sprite and a juicy cherry!
And that’s it y’all! Super easy, sweet and delicious! If you want to add even more special Mardi Gras touches to your cocktail party, grab these Mardi Gras cocktail stirrers from Dizzy Diva to skewer your cherry garnish. Aren’t they beautiful?!
Or serve your guests their festive King Cake Drinks on these lovely Mardi Gras embroidered cocktail napkins from Paddock Threads. These are absolutely gorgeous!
