We’re always on the lookout for fabulous and fun birthday party themes, which is why we love this playful My Little Pony Birthday Party! If your daughter loves Twilight Sparkle and all of her pony friends, you’ll love the DIY ideas in this colorful backyard 5th birthday party! Keep scrolling for our 6 Best My Little Pony Party Ideas!

In Ponyville, four-legged friends Twilight Sparkle, Applejack, Rainbow Dash, Pinkie Pie, Fluttershy and Rarity work together to achieve harmony in all they do! The revamped My Little Pony series is full of bright, colorful, cheerful inspiration for a little girl’s birthday party! That’s why photographer and mom, Jenn Sollitto of designs HOBBY photography chose this theme for her twin daughter’s 5th Birthday. Take a look with me at Ashley and Ally’s My Little Pony themed party for inspiration to recreate the look yourself!
1. Set the Stage for Ponyville
From My Little Pony themed invitations to giant Pinkie Pie Airwalker Balloons, you know you’ll have to fill your party with Twilight Sprinkle and all her friends so guests feel like they’ve arrived in Ponyville! You can keep things simple by going with a My Little Pony Tableware and Decor Kit or customize your decor like Jenn did here with rainbow tablecloths and custom My Little Pony mason jar centerpieces by Happen by Lucy.

Another great way to make it feel like Ponyville? My Little Pony character masks for all your guests! These cute masks can be worn during the party or given at the end for favors.

I’m always a sucker for a custom birthday banner! I think a themed banner goes a long way to adding festivity to your event and I absolutely love this custom My Little Pony themed birthday banner I found on Etsy!

2. Decorate with Rainbows
You know what always goes with My Little Ponies? Rainbows! Jenn did an awesome job at the twin’s birthday party utilizing rainbows in all of her decorations. The cloud and rainbow backdrop for the dessert table is just perfect!

And how about this gigantic inflatable rainbow sprinkler? Jenn used it as a shaded place to play and open presents, but you could easily turn the sprinkler on for some summertime water play too!

This inflatable rainbow cooler was perfect on the food table for holding flowers, condiments and snacks! We love the creativity!

Or for a set of simple rainbow decorations, these colorful pompoms and banners would look beautiful hung around the backyard.
3. Incorporate Unicorns
What’s a little girl’s birthday party without unicorns, right (one of our most popular posts is 25 Unicorn Party Snacks for the Most Magical Party Ever after all!)? And since some of the My Little Ponies are in fact unicorns, you can’t go wrong! Ashley, Ally and their friends painted wooden unicorn masks and got unicorn coloring sheets and paddle boards as favors too.

But even better than unicorn decorations or activities… that’s right, getting to ride a unicorn! Guests enjoyed rides from two beautifully colored unicorns during the party too! So. Much. Fun.

4. Colorful Cakes & Treats
Another great way to tie into your theme is with food, drinks and sweet treats! This My Little Pony party didn’t disappoint! Guests enjoyed not one, but two cakes, made by mom Jenn Sollitto of designs HOBBY photography. The tiered cake had layers of vanilla, chocolate and strawberry and was decorated with party blowers – so fun!

Guests also enjoyed My Little Pony Cookies custom made by Lady Bug Cakes, Rainbow Cookies custom made by Baketini Bake Shop, Pony Cupcakes made by mom and Rainbow Chocolate Covered Pretzels custom made by Party Time Chocolates.

If you need more ideas for colorful sweet treats, check out our Rainbow Mini Cakes – they’d be perfect for this party!
5. Playful Activities
In addition to the amazing unicorn rides, guests enjoyed getting their faces painted by Face Paint Fantasy and time bouncing in a bounce house provided by The Party Bounce.

6. Finish with Fabulous Favors
No party is complete without party favors! We love how Jenn set out rainbow colored favor bags on a table under – what else – a rainbow balloon!

If you want themed favor bags, we found these cute My Little Pony favor bags on Amazon! You could fill theme with bubbles, rainbow colored popcorn, sugar cookies, hair chalk, My Little Pony masks or My Little Pony figurines!
