I love absolutely everything about Christmas! From the decorations to the songs, from the cookies to the gifts, from the tree to the smells of the holiday season! And one of my favorite smells is the deliciously warm aroma of Christmas Stovetop Potpourri! There’s just something special about walking into a home that smells like Christmas! Subtle aromas of cinnamon, spice and everything nice! Yum! If you’re anything like me it instantly takes you back to your childhood!
I love Christmas Stovetop Potpourri because it’s so simple! Plus, let’s be honest, the bright reds of the cranberries mixed with the orange and beautiful green rosemary, it easily wraps up into a beautiful Christmas gift! I just made a big batch and gave them to the hostesses of our church group’s Christmas Progressive Dinner Party and will be handing them out to friends, neighbors and teachers all season long.
This Christmas Hostess Gift is simple and quick to make. Here’s all you need to make one gift bag:
- 1 small cello bag (I used rectangle, but cone-shaped cello bags look beautiful too!)
- 1 orange
- Handful of fresh cranberries
- 3-5 cinnamon sticks
- 1 Tablespoon cloves
- 1 teaspoon nutmeg
- 1 sprig of fresh rosemary

- Baker’s twine (I used green and white, but any Christmas color will do)
If you’re making the Christmas Stovetop Potpourri yourself at home, all you’ll do is combine all the ingredients in a pot, add 2 cups of water and turn it to medium-high. Once it boils, reduce it to a simmer and enjoy the delicious aroma of the holiday season! You can add additional water as needed, depending on how long you leave it on the stovetop.
