Who says Valentine’s Day has to be celebrated traditionally with a romantic dinner in a fancy restaurant? Not us! That’s why we’re falling in love with this gorgeous Valentine’s Day Picnic! Whether you want to throw together something special for your little sweethearts or go all out with a romantic picnic for the love of your life, we have inspiration and ideas for creating a Lovely Valentine’s Day Picnic of your own!
Unexpected surprises are always so much fun, aren’t they? I think that’s one reason I adore this sweet picnic photographer Laurin Hills of Hills Photography Studios styled and captured for Valentine’s Day. Whether you’re searching for creative ideas for a Valentine’s Party, want to do something special for your kiddos or are planning a romantic afternoon with your boyfriend or husband, a picnic is an option worth considering! Take a look at this beautiful setup as we walk you through some planning tips and let your imagination run wild!
1. Find a Location
The first thing you need to do is find the perfect location for your Valentine’s Day Picnic! This beautiful picnic was held in a park by the pond and the setting is absolutely dreamy! Depending on the weather in your area, an outdoor picnic, may or may not be an option, after all it is still winter!
If you’re headed outdoors, your favorite park, a location with a gorgeous sunset view or even your own backyard are all fabulous options! If it’s too cold to head outdoors, an indoor picnic by the fireplace is super fun for the kids and romantic for the two of you!
2. Gather Your Supplies
I absolutely love the setup for this picnic! Laurin utilized multiple textures and layers, mixing blankets and pillows of all kinds. It’s luxurious and looks like a place you could lounge all day! Gather up your coziest blankets, a few pillows and any other soft materials that will make sitting on the floor or the ground more comfortable!
Next you’ll want to add in some Valentine’s decor and colors. Balloons are always festive and a great way to go! You could also add candles or twinkle lights if your picnic is going to be in the evening. Don’t forget rose petals and flowers as well!
In addition to your picnic basket, you may also want to bring a wooden tray so you’ll have a place to set drinks, food and dessert so it doesn’t fall over before you’ve enjoyed it!
Recreate this look at home with these supplies:
- Follow Your Heart Wooden Sign
- Fuzzy Love Pillow
- White Faux Fur Blanket
- Valentine’s Red, White and Pink Heart and Lips Balloon Set
3. Plan Your Menu
You’ll have to decide the time of day and the type of picnic you want to host as well. A brunch picnic could be really fun with heart shaped donuts and mimosas (or orange juice for the kids)! Maybe a long lunch with wine and a charcuterie board is more your style? You could also go all out with a fancy or catered dinner… or keep things simple like they did in this photoshoot and serve Valentine’s Day desserts! The cookies designed by My Cookie Lady are adorable, aren’t they?
4. Enjoy
All that’s left is inviting your loved ones and enjoying the day! A Valentine’s Day Picnic is a unique way to celebrate this special holiday and one you’re sure to remember for years to come! Be sure to Pin this post to your Valentine’s Day board for later planning too!
