The night before a wedding is a special time for families and close friends to come together and celebrate the bride and the groom before their big day. Guests of Kellee and Randy’s upcoming nuptials were treated to a special, relaxed evening on a farm in the mountains of Virginia. Take a look with us at this beautiful Farmhouse Wedding Rehearsal Dinner Picnic and take away inspiration for your next outdoor celebration!
The perfect venue for a wedding and a rehearsal dinner, River Uplands Farm in Millboro, Virginia is an idyllic setting for a casual, outdoor picnic underneath the farm’s large, picturesque willow tree. Planned by the groom’s mother, owner of Fudge Street Cafe in nearby Covington, VA, this rehearsal dinner was full of good food, beautiful details as well as plenty of love and laughter.
Rehearsal Dinner Picnic Decor
The lawn at the farm was covered in blue and white buffalo plaid blankets with little picnic basket favors. Each blanket was decorated with pillows featuring a quote about love. Guests enjoyed lounging outdoors, catching up and celebrating the moment at hand.
These darling miniature picnic baskets are the perfect favor for this rehearsal dinner! You could fill them with candies, macarons or some other little keepsake to remember the day. Aren’t they adorable?!
The couple’s seat of honor for the picnic was a large wooden swing, decorated with swags of greenery and a custom pennant banner featuring their last name. Complete with comfy pillows and oversized lanterns, this sitting area was the perfect spot to take in the evening’s festivities.
Picnic Dinner and Drink Ideas
Boxed dinners hand decorated with cute sayings, prepared by Fudge Street Cafe, featured the groom’s favorite dishes including Lebanese meat pies, cream puffs, chocolate dipped bacon and a lemon-infused Tabouli salad. This is a great way to keep things casual and easy for outdoor dining.
We always enjoy seeing new and creative ways to serve beverages at a party and this celebration doesn’t disappoint! The bride’s favorite beverages, lavender lemonade and raspberry lemonade, were served in mason jars and kept cool on ice. This is a fun way to keep drinks cold and serve a crowd!
The couple received a gorgeous heart-shaped picnic basket full of delicious food for their dinner. The picnic basket is not only a practical, but also doubles as a fabulous wedding gift for the couple-to-be!
Rehearsal Dinner Details
Everyone had a great time playing lawn checkers and corn hole under the twinkle lights, sharing family stories and making memories. A picnic is a relaxed occasion, so you don’t need to plan a lot of activities – just let the fun naturally unfold.
Before the evening ended, the couple shared a few words of gratitude and gifts with their family and wedding party. The groomsmen made good use of their monogrammed lawn chairs during the festivities and the bridesmaids opened their gifts of matching robes and bracelets.
