Ideas for a Cactus Backyard Birthday Party

Perhaps an uncommon and unexpected party theme for a child’s birthday party, cacti are something the birthday girl actually loves, so building her backyard birthday around it makes total sense! I also think it’s a fresh and fun theme for the hot days of summer, so no matter what event you have coming up, consider how a cactus theme might work for you!

Cactus Party Decoration Ideas

This elegant children’s birthday party palette was built around the lovely combination of colors of a cactus in a terra cotta pot. You’ll notice a coordinated mix of terra cotta, sage and white throughout the decor, flowers and desserts. Hosted in the birthday girl’s backyard, the outdoor dining table was the set with an inspiring tablescape. First, I want to draw your attention to the colorful balloons hung under the umbrella. I love the idea of creating a focal point in an unexpected place and this adds some whimsical fun to the space.

The wooden outdoor table was set with gorgeous mosaic looking plates in pink and white, sage linen napkins and terra cotta planter bases were used as name cards with each guest’s name written in white script.

Sage glasses held a wooden cactus stir stick (these pink cactus stir sticks are cute too!) and terra cotta goblets (find something similar here) were the perfect compliment, tying all the colors together.

Finally, down the center of the table were wild, flowing floral arrangements in terra cotta pots, beautifully designed by Pavan Floral.

Cactus Dessert Table

Another noteworthy element from this celebration was the dessert table! Sharp Balloons designed a stunning cactus balloon display, drawing guests over to the table where they were greeted by a custom pink Happy “Fancactus” Birthday sign and a table decorated with a variety of real cactuses in varying shaped pots. And the little cacti in tiny terra cotta pots? Those are actually macarons! Amazing, right?! The lovely drip cake was also topped with cactus macarons – so adorable!

Cactus Party Favors

I think this is a no brainer, right? What do you give as party favors at a cactus themed birthday? Cacti of course! Guests picked out their favorite cactus to take home to remember the fun day with friends.
