Perhaps one of the most exciting baby showers you could ever attend is an Adoption Shower! Celebrating a child becoming part of a forever family is incredibly special and the adoptive parents deserve a day of fun with family and friends, where they can be showered in love for their commitment. Join me for a behind-the-scenes look at this lovely Over the Moon Adoption Shower!
Dawn and Ed were “over the moon” to begin the journey of adopting a baby girl and their niece, Event Designer & Host, Angela Gossard, owner of Endearing Events, knew she had found the perfect theme for their Adoption Shower! No matter the age of the child being adopted, the parents need the love, support, encouragement – and gifts – that come with a shower! Let’s take a look at the details from this beautiful shower and grab some ideas for your next big event!
Adoption Shower Invitations
The stage was set for an Over the Moon theme with this beautiful invitation from HavenPCo on Etsy. Personalized to fit the adoption shower theme, a matching “Books for Baby” card was included in the envelope along with a request for guests to wear either taupe or white clothing. Dawn, the mom-to-be, wore a beautiful caramel colored dress, and the resulting pictures are beautiful! A special dress code might be worth trying for your next event too!
Adoption Shower Party Decoration Ideas
Event Designer Angela adopted a chic celestial color palette of blush, white, pale yellow, orange and gold. Although this was a fall event, these colors would also work perfectly in the spring and summer seasons! Reminiscent of a sunset, the colors reflected beautifully for the lakeside celebration as the sun dropped into the water.
Guest tables, set out with a view of the lake, were covered in gold star tablecloths and scalloped white dinner plates were topped with blush pink napkins and personalized wooden crescent moons featuring each guest’s name, handwritten by Maria of Minor Details. You can find a similar acrylic moon place card (available in a variety of colors) from Jenn and Jules Designs or get a unique marbled clay moon place card from Little Miss Print Co.
Each table also featured an amazing floral arrangement of fresh roses, ranunculus, peonies, and other beautiful blooms in the blush pink, pale yellow, orange, and white color palette. Placed in a gold vase and designed by Sarah of Petersburg Petals, the arrangements made for sensational centerpieces!
Finally, elegant details were added with mirrored signs welcoming and directing guests. The calligraphy, hand written by Maria of Minor Details, on the Welcome Sign and Cocktail Menu sign look absolutely stunning!
Over the Moon Food, Drink & Dessert Inspiration
Blue Wolf Events catered the shower and worked with Angela to coordinate a menu to reflect an autumn affair, complete with a fall flavored sangria that paired perfectly with the color palette as well.
Three custom cocktails were served at the event, each of which were pink in color and delicious in taste! As guests entered the event, they were welcomed with French Rose Champagne garnished with a pink sugar rim and a mini blush rose, in addition to a blush swirl raspberry macaron.
Jessica of Baked by Jess created the delicious chocolate cake (Dawn’s favorite!) with a blush pink design, complete with gold foil, and topped with a delicate moon cake topper. She also made the macarons and the moon shaped sugar cookies set at each place setting for guests to take home as a party favor.
An elegant and lovely soirée, Dawn’s Over the Moon Adoption Shower has plenty of ideas for your next event! Be sure to Pin this post to your Party Planning board so you can come back later for even more inspiration!
