A significant childhood milestone many families gather to celebrate is the child’s baptism. A special day that’s steeped in tradition, depending on your cultural heritage, baptisms have different elements and customs. Today, join me as we go behind the scenes at Zoey’s 100 Day Red Egg Baptism Celebration, a tradition in Chinese and Vietnamese cultures!
A Red Egg Party is a traditional Chinese celebration of a baby’s one month birthday. This unique tradition goes back thousands of years when infant mortality rates were higher and families waited until a month had passed to name and celebrate their new child. Today, the tradition persists and parents celebrate the one-month milestone and often celebrate at the 100 day mark as well.
Zoey’s baptism was a traditional 100 Day Ceremony and as you’ll see in the photos below, featured hard boiled red eggs, which symbolize luck and unity.
Following the baptism ceremony, held at Vietnamese Martyrs Catholic Church in Sacramento, California, family and friends gathered for a casual dessert celebration honoring little Zoey.
A beautiful dessert table was set up featuring lovely hanging floral hoops and an elegant balloon arch by Joyce Designs. The all white color palette is perfect for a baptism and you can easily recreate this backdrop with a custom set of floral hoop wreaths and a DIY white balloon arch kit at home!
Another special element in the decor was this photo display sign that captured precious pictures of Zoey in one easy to see place. You often see these types of displays at First Birthday parties and I love them there as well! Why not have a custom photo display made for your next party?
Guests enjoyed sweet treats provided by Custom Cookies by Amy and took home heart shaped cookies decorated with a cross as party favors.
Finally, Zoey enjoyed her own photoshoot where Kathy Izzy Photography captured her sweet little smile for years to come. We love the white lace teepee and white floral “Z” used as props here! Doesn’t she look precious?!
We hope you enjoyed a look inside this beautiful tradition-filled Baptism Party for Zoey as much as we did! Be sure to Pin this post for later party planning!
