A significant milestone celebration for many families happens during the first year of baby’s life – their baptism! Today we have a lovely Greek Orthodox Baptism to share with you and the family-centered celebration that followed. Held at home after the church ceremony, Baby Demetrios’ Baptism Celebration featured a decadent blueberry-inspired dessert table and lots of elegant blue decor. Take a look and grab some inspiration for your next celebration…

Photographer and mom Ashley Halas began planning her son Demetrios’ baptism when he was just 3 months old. The Greek Orthodox church where her husband was baptized was also the location of their wedding, so Ashley knew it was the right place for Demetrios’ baptism as well.

After the meaningful baptism ceremony, their family gathered at home where she had prepared a variety of special treats to celebrate the big day. Inspired by nature and her little boy, Ashley chose a blue and green theme and carried greenery and natural elements throughout her design.

The stunning dessert table was framed by a custom made natural wood “God Bless Demetrios” banner from Modern Birch Co. White, a classic baptism color, was used as the backdrop and Ashley hung a beautiful swag of branches, greenery and white flowers above the table. Small blue butterflies also delicately decorated the space.

The blueberry-themed dessert table invited guests with several homemade treats, including the stunning Blueberry and Lemon Cake topped with a custom natural wood cake topper, the vibrant Blueberry Lemon Donuts, grandmother made Baklava and macarons from Eet Gud Bakery in various shades of blue.

Guests also enjoyed a delicious spread of food including this amazing charcuterie board featuring meats, cheeses, breads, nuts, fruits, vegetables and a variety of dips. And even the punch matched the blue color theme!

Tables were set up in the front yard under blue ribbons and the homemade centerpieces were made using moss covered baskets, potted herbs and beer bottles spray painted white and gold by mom and dad. The natural wood theme was carried through here as well with the addition of the wooden crosses.

Finally, no party is complete without a party favor and guests left the baptism with a sweet memento of the day in the form of a blue bracelet with a gold cross.

This day is sure to be cherished by Ashley, her husband and little Demetrios for years to come. I hope you found inspiration in this celebration that you can bring into your next event! Be sure to Pin this post for later Party Planning!
