When hosting an important holiday meal, like Christmas dinner, you want to make sure you take the time to set a gorgeous table! An elegant tablescape sets the mood for the festivities, food and conversation to come, doesn’t it? This year, one of our favorite looks for Christmas is this elegant and luxurious Vintage Christmas Tablescape! Inspired by the 1920s, the table decorations feature shimmering golds, lavish velvets and exquisite whites. Take a look with me and gather inspiration for your holiday table…
Christmas is by far, my favorite holiday! I love everything about this special time of year from the music to the cookies to the childhood magic that’s created throughout the season! And I especially adore, hosting friends and family to celebrate Christmas Day! I’m sure the holiday table Victoria Thanoukos of Kensington Event Design put together will inspire your creative side to pull together an elegant vintage-inspired table of your own!
Vintage Christmas Table Setting Ideas
The key details that give this table a vintage vibe are the luxurious textures of the linens and the simple color palette focused on greens, golds and whites. Added luxury is pulled in with the mixed metals in the plates and silverware and the elegant crystal wine glasses. Let’s take a closer look…
Set on top of a beautifully geometric gold and white tablecloth from BBJ Linen, each place setting was grounded with a glass beaded charger, white plates rimmed in silver and gold and topped with a fresh pear – perfect for the season evoking memories of the delicious and creamy holiday pears from Harry & David! The gold silverware is the perfect compliment too!
Each place setting also featured a simple menu designed by Emery Ann Design and a luxurious green velvet napkin tied up in a white satin ribbon. The addition of the menu and a velvet napkin really adds a special element of elegance that’s appreciated at a holiday meal. It isn’t “just another family dinner” – it’s special and should have elements that make it stand apart.
The crystal wine glasses evoke the vintage feel and remind me of something special you’d find in your grandmother’s china cabinet. They look absolutely stunning with the crystal candleholders that decorate the rest of the tabletop.
Another element that I adore from this Vintage Christmas Tablescape is the evergreen swags on the back of the chairs! Two branches of greenery are criss-crossed on the back of each chair and tied with a white satin ribbon. Little details like this go a long way in creating a memorable dining experience for your guests!
Vintage Christmas Centerpiece Ideas
Kensington Event Design put together an exquisite arrangement for this holiday table! A sparkly gold round vase displayed an arrangement of white roses and ranunculus, evergreen branches, cotton and golden pears. The centerpiece is the perfect size – not too high or wide so guests can converse and easily pass dishes around the table.
The table was also decorated with snow-sprinkled pinecones and white snowflakes – the perfect additions to capture the essence of the season.
Vintage Christmas Cake Ideas
Finally, a little bonus inspiration for you… a vintage-style Christmas cake! Chicago Sweet Connection Bakery designed this lovely dessert with white icing, topped with tiny pinecones and a sprig of greenery. Doesn’t it look gorgeous against the snow? It’s the perfect reminder that you can carry your table decorating theme straight through to your desserts too!
