Today I have the sweetest birthday party to share with you! If you have a little one you’re planning a party for and want to keep things simple, there’s no better inspiration than this Some Bunny is Turning Two Birthday Party! It works for any age and can be customized for girls or boys, so get ready to take notes and join me for a behind the scenes look at this children’s birthday party.
I was recently reminiscing with a friend about how simple birthday parties were during our childhood. If you recall, it was usually just some balloons, a sheet cake, candles and time to play with your friends (usually outdoors)! And guess what?? We were all totally fine with that! These days, birthday parties can be a little… extra, shall we say? And don’t get me wrong, clearly I love a gorgeous party for any age (hello, it’s the focus of my blog!), but this lovely little soiree has me remembering that simple can be beautiful and perfect too. And as much as we hate to admit it moms, our littles likely won’t remember any of it, right?! Lol So grab our Party Planning Checklist and let’s get to planning!
Bunny Birthday Invitations
Madeleine’s 2nd Birthday Party, held outdoors (still a great idea for social distancing) at Hollywood-Rose Hill Park, was centered around a bunny theme, which is perfect for Spring or birthdays that fall near Easter. It’s also a great theme for a baby shower, especially if you take a Peter Rabbit twist!
The party theme and decor revolved around the whimsical bunny illustration featured on the invitations by Kelli Murray Art and Design. Isn’t the watercolor design on these just gorgeous? You’ll see that beautiful bunny repeated throughout the decor – an element we love which ties the whole theme together!
Bunny Party Decor Ideas
Decorations were kept to a minimum because when you hold a party at a park, you bring everything in and out yourself! And let’s be honest, the kids are usually on the playground running around the whole time, so focus your energy and effort on setting a beautiful party and dessert table!
The tables were covered with white tablecloths and a green polka dot table runner (find a similar multi-colored polka dot table runner here or a lime green polka dot table runner here), evoking the feel of spring! Down the center of the table, colorful tulips were placed in white ceramic vases and intermixed with giant toadstools! Glass jars with candies like these sour gummy worms were also mixed in and it created an ideal outdoor whimsical world where a little bunny might live!
Bunny Birthday Dessert Inspiration
The sweet treats at this second birthday party were also kept simple, focusing on a gorgeous white cake with delicate yellow flowers designed by Parkland Cakes. Our cute little bunny character was used as the perfect cake and cupcake topper too! Don’t those cupcakes look delicious?
Bunny Party Favors
Finally, the illustrated bunny was printed in a much larger size, cut out and with the addition of a popsicle stick, turned into adorable bunny masks for all the little guests (and the parents) to enjoy.
If you want to fill favor bags with even more party favors, we came across these whimsical bunny boxes from The Party Box USA on Etsy and think they’d be perfect for this theme!
I hope you enjoyed this elegant, yet simple bunny-themed birthday party as much as I did! Be sure to Pin this post to your Party Planning board so you can come back later!
