I think the world changed forever when J.K. Rowling released Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone in 1997 (can you believe it was that long ago?!). People all over the world, of all ages, fell in love with the series and new generations continue to discover the fantastical adventures of young wizards Harry, Hermione and Ron during their time at Hogwarts. For his 12th Birthday Party, Wesley requested a Harry Potter themed birthday party and parents Eric and Judith Soule were excited for the challenge! They had a blast bringing together all of the details and elements that beautifully created a wonderful world for wizards, transforming their space into Hogwarts! The thoughtful and fun details are sure to inspire your party planning!
Harry Potter Party Invitations
The theme for the celebration was set exceptionally well with the custom Hogwarts invitations sent to all the guests. The details for the party arrived on Hogwarts letterhead inside an envelope wrapped in twine with a melted wax seal – how exciting!
Harry Potter Party Decorations
Upon arrival, wizards were greeted with the room decorated and divided up into the four houses of Hogwarts: Gryffindor, Slytherin, Ravenclaw and Hufflepuff. Each table featured a table cloth corresponding to the house color and the house banner hung above. Birthday boy Wesley was part of House Gryffindor, of course. You’ll also notice Platform 9 3/4 in the background!
The place settings on the table featured Harry Potter themed plates and napkins too (here’s a similar set). Brass candlesticks were stacked on top of Harry Potter books as centerpieces and each guest had a chocolate golden snitch to enjoy as well! It’s all in the details and this party did an amazing job making the world of Harry Potter feel authentic!
Harry Potter Party Food and Drinks
The little wizards at this party weren’t disappointed when it came to sweets and drinks! Check out this amazing Harry Potter cake designed by Whipped Up by Mimi! It looks absolutely stunning on the dessert table with the Hogwarts banner in the background, candlesticks and snowy owls.
In addition to the amazing cake, guests enjoyed cupcakes, donuts, snacked on the candy bar and drank Butterbeer during the afternoon festivities.
Harry Potter Party Favors
The final party details featured Gringott’s Bank, where guests were able to exchange money and Ollivanders Wand Shop where each wizard was able to choose their own wand. Perfect tokens to remember their fun day of celebration!
